Terms of Use

These terms are a contract between you and Next Yazılım Teknoloji Anonim Şirketi (“we”, “us”), of Üniversiteler Mahallesi, 1606. Cadde, 4A Blok No: 304, Ankara, Türkiye, for the use of FollowerOwl at followerowl.com and api.followerowl.com (the “service”).

By using the service you agree to these terms and to the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use it.

1. What FollowerOwl is

FollowerOwl shows you, from the data export Instagram already gives you, who does not follow you back, who you do not follow back, and — once you save a second export — who unfollowed you between those two dates. Parsing happens in your browser. We never ask for an Instagram password and we never act on your Instagram account.

The service is not:

• an Instagram client, bot, or growth tool
• a way to follow, unfollow, like, message, or otherwise act on Instagram
• affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by Meta Platforms, Inc. or Instagram
• a guarantee that a particular person will follow you, or that Instagram will keep producing exports in the current format

Instagram and Meta are trademarks of Meta Platforms, Inc. We read only the export Instagram provides to you. We do not claim to be “Meta-compliant” or an official partner.

2. Who may use it

You may use the in-browser analysis if you are old enough to have an Instagram account. You must be at least 18, or the age of majority in your country if that is higher, to create a FollowerOwl account or pay for Pro. If you use the service for an organisation, you confirm you have authority to bind it.

You may only upload or drop an export that Instagram produced for an account you control. Do not drop someone else's export.

3. How an account works

An account is optional. Instant analysis needs none. To keep history you give us an email address; we send a magic link, not a password. Sessions last 30 days of use and can be revoked from the account or by us if we suspect abuse.

You are responsible for the inbox you use to sign in. Anyone who can read that inbox can request a link. Sensitive actions (changing email, exporting data, deleting the account, managing billing) require a fresh link, not just a live session.

You confirm the Instagram handle before a snapshot is saved. We are not Instagram and cannot verify that the handle still belongs to you. A large change between snapshots will ask you whether it is still the same account; a rename on Instagram looks like an unfollow plus a new follow, because the export has no stable id.

4. What you licence to us

You keep whatever rights you have in your export. By saving a snapshot you grant us a limited licence to store and process the three username lists, their timestamps, the handle, and the export date, solely to provide the service to you — diffs, reminders, watchlist alerts, export-your-data, and deletion. We do not use those lists to contact the people on them, to sell data, or to build a public directory.

You confirm that you have the right to provide that export and that the lists are from your own Instagram account.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• try to upload a whole export, or anything other than the lists the client sends
• probe, scrape, or overload the API, or circumvent rate limits or bot checks
• access another person's snapshots or share a session to let someone else do so
• use the service to harass, stalk, or intimidate anyone
• misrepresent the results as Instagram's own, or as legal evidence we certify
• reverse-engineer the hosted service except as allowed by law (the parser that reads exports is already open source)
• resell access or build a competing hosted service on top of our API without permission

We may refuse, rate-limit, or delete an account that breaks these rules, or a snapshot that is not an Instagram follower export.

6. Free and Pro

Instant analysis is free and unlimited. A free account keeps the two most recent snapshots (by export date). Unfollower counts are visible on a free account; the names in those diffs are a Pro feature. Free lists on a single export (non-followers, fans, mutuals) stay visible.

Pro is currently USD 4.99 per month or USD 29 per year, billed by Stripe. Prices are shown at checkout and may change for future periods; we will not change the price of a period you have already paid for. Taxes may be added where the law requires.

Subscriptions renew until you cancel. Cancel at any time through the Stripe customer portal; access continues until the end of the period you paid for. We do not prorate unused time, except where consumer law requires a refund.

If you are a consumer in the EEA, the UK, or Türkiye, you may have a 14-day right to withdraw from a distance contract. If you ask us to start Pro immediately and acknowledge that you lose that right once performance begins, the withdrawal right ends when the paid features are made available. Statutory rights that cannot be waived still apply.

A second snapshot saved on a free account is stored and diffed; upgrading reveals names without requiring you to re-upload.

7. Availability and changes

We aim to keep the service working, and we do not promise uninterrupted access, any particular speed, or that Instagram will keep exporting files in a shape we can read. Format changes on Instagram's side are outside our control. When we cannot parse an export we say so, rather than guessing.

We may add, change, or withdraw features, including the 250,000-row cap per snapshot. If we discontinue the service we will give reasonable notice to account holders and a chance to export and delete.

8. Intellectual property

We own the service, the FollowerOwl name and mark, and the hosted application. The parser that reads Instagram exports is published separately under AGPL-3.0; that licence, not these terms, governs the parser source. You may not use our name or mark in a way that suggests we are part of Meta or Instagram.

Feedback you send us may be used to improve the service without obligation to you.

9. Privacy

Our Privacy Policy is the data-processing description for the service. In short: the ZIP stays on your device; saved snapshots are three lists of usernames; follower lists can be stored in the EU if you leave that toggle on; the control plane, logs, email, and Stripe are not EU-pinned.

10. Disclaimers

The service is provided as is. Results are computed from the files you give us. We do not warrant that a username still exists, that a follow relationship is current after the export date, or that an unfollow happened on a particular day — we show a range between two exports, because that is all the files contain.

To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded — including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or gross negligence, or rights that consumers have under Turkish, EEA, or UK law.

11. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for lost profits, lost data (including an export you did not keep a copy of), reputational harm, or indirect or consequential loss, whether in contract, tort, or otherwise.

Our total liability for all claims arising out of the service is limited to the greater of USD 29 and the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. This cap does not apply to liability that the law does not allow us to limit.

12. Indemnity

If you use the service in a way that breaks these terms or someone else's rights (including dropping an export that is not yours), you will indemnify us against the resulting claims and costs, except to the extent we caused the harm.

13. Suspension and deletion

You may delete your account at any time. Deletion wipes snapshots and the account as described in the Privacy Policy; some records (suppression entries, Stripe event ids, a randomised audit trail) are kept so we do not email a deleted address and so we can answer a lawful request.

We may suspend or delete an account that we reasonably believe is abusing the service, is not an Instagram export, or exposes us to legal risk. Unused paid time is not refunded in that case unless the law requires it.

14. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The date at the top is the effective date. For a material change we will email the address on the account. If you continue to use the service after the effective date, the new terms apply. If you do not agree, delete the account and stop using the service.

15. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Türkiye. Courts of Ankara have jurisdiction, except that if you are a consumer you may also bring a claim in the courts of your place of residence, and mandatory consumer protections of that place still apply.

If a provision is unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. These terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement for the service. We may assign the contract in a reorganisation; you may not assign it without our consent.
